Curl Cord |
Find where the DesignaKnit cable connects to the curl cord. Make sure that the EC1 or knitting machine console is powered OFF. If you are using the SilverLink 2, make sure that it also is powered OFF. Disconnect the DesignaKnit cable from the curl cord and look into the female connector on the DesignaKnit cable. There are 7 small holes, and also an earthing lug which near to the cylindrical metal casing. If the earth lug is blackened because of a poor electrical contact between the two cables, clean it gently with a small screwdriver. The lug should press cleanly against the metal casing of the curl cord connector when the DesignaKnit cable is connected to the curl cord. It should also have a bend in it to make it press firmly against the casing. If the lug has become very much flattened, restore the bend as follows. Take a small screwdriver, place its tip against the tip of the lug, and push against the lug, making just its middle region bend outwards towards the metal casing. The tip of the lug should NOT bend outwards towards the casing, but inwards towards the middle of the connector.
Pattern Shifts Sideways |
If the pattern sometimes shifts sideways, see whether this happens at rows when knitting instruction are given. If you have done an increase or decrease, or selected a new yarn very quickly, you might have started moving the carriage before DesignaKnit has finished giving the warning. The following conditions make it more likely for this problem to occur:
| The computer has a slow processor. | |
| The computer is networked. | |
| Verbal instructions are used. | |
| Knitting instructions are carried out quickly and the carriage is moved again before DesignaKnit has finished giving the verbal instructions. |
