DesignaKnit 6 Update

- In Original Pattern Drafting, the limit of 10 markers per
piece has been removed and it is now possible to add as many markers as there are points,
up to the maximum of 150 points.
- In Stitch Designer, there is a new option, "Left
Handed Pencil" - see the Options menu.
- The Tensions option has been removed from Interactive
Knitting.
- DesignaKnit will now upload stitch patterns from and
download them to the H970 CB-1. Shapes cannot be transferred. Please see the newly
expanded Help on downloading to and knitting with Brother machines.
- The BWCC.DLL file has now been replaced by DK6-BWCC.DLL
and this is contained within DK6NAT.ZIP instead of DK6PRO.ZIP, in order to accommodate
national language translations. Users can dispose of their BWCC.DLL file which is in the
main DesignaKnit directory.
- The Help has been extended and improved, and now includes
browse sequences and a glossary.
- There is now a 4th ease table, called zero.eas.
- A number of improvements have been made for the various
print formats.
- The program now has better
cable recognition, especially running
under Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
Other differences between versions 6.00 and 6.09y
Stitch Designer:
- When Stitch Designer was used under Windows 95 with a zoomed-in view of a
stitch pattern, moving the scroll bar's thumb did not not reposition the thumb on the
slider bar correctly.
- When leaving Stitch Designer after some superimposing has been done,
there is a reminder to save the shape file with that new superimposing information. This
reminder is now also given when opening another stitch pattern.
- Downloading to the PPD in CK35 mode now works correctly.
- When about to download to the KH970, a warning is now given if a magnetic switch type
cable is not detected.
- When downloading a large stitch pattern, the pattern may be split into
sections because of the limited memory size of the knitting equipment. There are some
changes connected with this:
(a) For the user not using Interactive Knitting, DesignaKnit now gives information about
the number of rows or passes to knit before another download is required. An additional
dialog box is shown after a section number has been entered. If the number of carriage
passes is different from the number of finished rows, both figures are given. This applies
to all Brother (Knitking) machines and PPD modes, to the E6000, and to the Silver Reed
Studio) PE1.
(b) A large separated Jacquard pattern, when downloaded to Brother equipment or to the
PE1, would occasionally not be divided into enough sections.
(c) When a stitch pattern is divided into sections, the method of deciding where to split
the pattern has changed for all machines. Instead of all sections being of roughly equal
size, the first section now occupies nearly all of the available memory, with the final
section comprising the residue. BECAUSE OF THIS CHANGE, IT IS VITAL NOT TO UPDATE TO VER
6.09 IF YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF KNITTING A MULTI-SECTION PIECE FOR WHICH THE LAST SECTION
HAS NOT YET BEEN DOWNLOADED. Use this update only when the piece currently being knitted
has been completed
- Jacquard separation method F now works correctly.
- On some computers, some programs (e.g. DrWatson) which monitor the use of
resources were reporting an error when DK6 terminated.
- Various changes made for compatibility with East Asian Windows 95.
- When downloading a separated Jacquard pattern, memo information is now
added for rows with no selecting needles. This gives better compatibility with the new
Brother electronic colour changer.
- In Stitch designer, if the tagged selection box encompassed the entire
visible area of the viewed pattern, only the central tag was visible and it was not
possible to grab other tags. Now, if this unusual situation occurs, the tags extend inside
the selected area so that they are accessible.
- In version 6.09j, the Convert Graphic dialog was half off the screen if
Windows was configured to large system text. This was repaired in 6.09k.
- When about to exit DesignaKnit from the logo screen, a reminder could be
given that the stitch pattern had not been saved, and an option was given to save it. If
Save was selected accepted at that point, the stitch pattern would be overwritten by the
logo.
- Since version 6.09i, Stitch Designer's Convert Graphic option did not
draw the grid correctly when Load Diagram had been used. Regardless of the colour
specified by the user, the grid was always black or white.
- When DesignaKnit detects it is running under Windows XP,
2000 or NT4, optimum cable settings for downloading are
automatically set.
Interactive Knitting:
- Interactive Jacquard knitting for the Duo 80 is now permitted.
- If the Passap / Pfaff punchcard machine is selected, the number of passes
per row is requested. (The user must ensure that the number of passes entered matches the
deco setting and the stitch pattern's technique).
- Some stitch patterns were producing wrong colour change instructions.
- When using the Silver (Studio) links 1 and 2 with some computers, a
message was given that the carriage was going the wrong way when it was not.
- Some power saving computers could hang during interactive knitting.
- Some computers would hang on pressing the Ready button and occasionally
the Go button. This bug appeared in 6.09j and was fixed in 6.09L.
- Some computers would occasionally draw entirely grey the window which
should show the carriage and the entire pattern piece.
- Occasionally the cursor movement keys could behave as though the Shift or
Control keys were down, producing movements of the carriage on screen by 5 or 20 rows
instead of 1.
- Backward compatibility to version 5 has been improved. Patterns which
have been extracted from an uploaded batch and then saved in version 6 are now readable by
version 5.
- When knitting with the Silver Reed SK830, SK840, SK860, SK890, and
Knitmaster 550, 560, and 580, the message "Carriage going wrong way" was given
if the carriage had been moved in a certain manner BEFORE pressing the Go button. This
manner consisted in moving the carriage twice without completely clearing the point cams,
and then leaving it over a gap between needles.
- Set Marker instructions sometimes displayed the instructions for the
wrong section; this has been corrected.
- When DesignaKnit detects it is running under Windows XP,
2000 or NT4, optimum cable settings for Interactive Knitting are
automatically selected.
Printouts:
- Format GN has been improved further to avoid overprinting of notation.
Printouts for the E6000 using Technique 179 now show instructions at the correct carriage
pass number.
- Larger text is now used for row numbering.
- When printing, the specified number of copies was being ignored for
single page documents.
- When formats ST and IT are printed for short stitch patterns on
non-electronic machines, there are now enough vertical repeats to extend to at least 60%
of the height of the punchcard.
- Improved E6000 template with corrected continuation marks.
- Printout format IT (Integrated Template) was sometimes incorrect for
Fairisle, Right Facing, and Wrong Facing patterns having changes in the background colour.
