Downloading and Installing the Update

You should follow the links to the correct version for the language version that you already have installed on your computer.  Please note that this update will not work unless the full version of DesignaKnit is already installed on your hard disk.  

NB:
Please note that if your current version of DesignaKnit 7 is earlier than 7.12.02 (7.12.08 French version) you will need to download the appropriate language pack also.  You will see the list available on the download page when you get there. This does not apply to DesignaKnit Concept, except for users with SilverLink 4, or DesignaKnit 6 updates.

The updates and language packs are in the form of a self-extracting archive.  If you are unsure how to download and install such a file, before proceeding print out this page and follow the step-by-step instructions.

Download Instructions

1. Click on the Download button on this page to take you to the Registration page. 
2. Fill in the form with your name, address and licence number and press the "Submit" button.  (If you make a mistake registering, click on the "Reset" button)
3. You will then see an acknowledgement of receipt of your details - Click on the Download button to go to the Download page.
4. The Download page displays a list of update files and language packs (see note above)
5. Click on the filename of the correct program version
6. A dialogue box will appear on the screen asking if you want to save the file to your hard disk or to run it straight away.  Choose the Save to Disk option and, in the next dialogue, open the directory you want to save it to - we suggest that you save it to C:\temp or C:\Windows\temp.    Make a note of the file name.  Click OK.
7. The file will now download to the designated directory.
8. If you are downloading a language pack, click on the appropriate file name and follow steps 6 and 7.

Install Instructions

Windows 95/98/ME/NT4/2000/XP/Vista Users

1. Open Windows Explorer and locate the directory in the left-hand pane to which you saved the update file and click on it to open it.
2. In the right-hand pane, double click on the update file name.
3. A dialogue box will appear, asking you to which directory the update should be installed.  The default is C:\DK7, and if this is where your DesignaKnit 7 program is, then click the Unzip button; if your program is elsewhere, type in the correct path to the DesignaKnit directory on your hard disk and then click the Unzip button.
4. If you have downloaded a language pack, then repeat steps 1 - 3 with the language file.
5. The next time you run DesignaKnit 7, open the Help menu and click on About - you will see that DesignaKnit now reports the updated version.

Windows 3.x Users

1. Open File Manager and locate the directory in the left-hand pane to which you saved the update file and double click on it to open it.
2. In the right-hand pane, double click on the update file name.
3. A dialogue box will appear, asking you to which directory the update should be installed.  The default is C:\DK7, and if this is where your DesignaKnit 7 program is, then click the Unzip button; if your program is elsewhere, type in the correct path to the DesignaKnit directory on your hard disk and then click the Unzip button.
4. If you have downloaded a language pack, then repeat steps 1 - 3 with the language file.
5. The next time you run DesignaKnit 7, open the Help menu and click on About - you will see that DesignaKnit now reports the updated version.
