You can try out our software by downloading the demonstration programs.
System Requirements
DesignaKnit 7 For Windows has the following minimum requirements:
 | IBM PC Compatible computer with 386 processor, or higher |
 | at least 8Mb RAM (16Mb recommended).
Please note that the recommended minimum for linking to a Silver Reed machine is:
486/25Mhz processor with 16Mb RAM |
 | SVGA (the program can run in VGA mode, but this restricts you to
16 basic colours. Further "dithered" colours are
available, but these are not suitable for use with the copy and
paste commands in the Stitch Designer section of the program. VGA
mode also severely restricts the functionality of the DesignaKnit
Graphics Studio, for which High Colour or True Colour mode is
recommended for complex bitmaps and photographs). |
 | Windows 3.x, Windows 9x, NT4, ME, Win2K, XP |
 | 7Mb hard disk space. |
 | For downloading to a knitting machine via a DesignaKnit Cable Link, the
computer must have an RS232 Serial Port. Some serial cable links can be connected to
a USB port via an adapter. Please seek advice from your local importer or
click here for more information. Not all adapters
on the market are suitable and Soft Byte Ltd can only offer support for the
one which they supply and which has been proven to be reliable. |

interactive knitting features, although these are restricted to work only with the special
demonstration shapes and stitch patterns provided.
The full programs on-screen help files are included and you can scan through them
as a guide to using the DesignaKnit 7 Demonstration .

What can the Demo do?
The Fittingly Sew demonstration program is designed
to give you an insight into the power of the full program. The demonstration allows you to
experiment with drafting "slopers" (body blocks) for skirts and trousers using
either the standard sizes provided or measurements you enter yourself.
You may then proceed to draft patterns based on these slopers using the full range of
tools to create or transfer darts, add pleats and pintucks, curve seams, cut or join
pieces, generate facings and determine seam allowances. You may also develop pattern
pieces from scratch. In addition, you may set grids to represent pattern repeats and
experiment with layplans, placing pieces along the straight of grain or on the bias.
The demonstration does not allow you to develop bodice or sleeve slopers or have more
than 5 pieces in a pattern, or to use the pattern templates. You will not be able to save
the files you create; you cannot open existing files or print them (except the example
pattern included in the demo). These features are all included in the full program.
